There's No Crying in Soccer

Caleb played his first soccer game today. Unfortunately, soccer began the same way as t-ball - with lots of tears. His team formed late and they have only had one practice. One practice where they all got to use their own ball. Needless to say, today there was alot of running off the field and crying, "their not sharing with me." And alot of confusion when my advice was to run and take it back away...he's just never heard mommy telling him to not share. Luckily, for Mommy it is really all about the cute uniforms...

And for Caleb it is all about the snack at the end...
But poor Daddy has bigger goals like him learning to be a team player, so tonight after dinner he found a soccer game on some foreign language channel and started teaching the fundamentals.

Overall, he had a great time today and by the end he started to understand the game a little more and started cheering for his team. He even ran in and played the last minute of the game with a big smile on his face. And, of course, before we were home he was asking when he got to go play again.

He only cried during his first t-ball game, so I am praying the same pattern will hold for soccer. And thankfully, Nana is starting Silas early so when it is his turn there will hopefully be no tears.

He looks so grown in that little soccer uniform. I wish we could see him play sometime.
