His youth group is going to try and raise money to send a kid from the trash dump to boarding school. Can you even imagine how cool it will be for that child's picture to be tacked up on their bulletin board? For that child to know that a big ol' group of American kids his same age are supporting him, and praying for him, and believing in him? And what a blessing it will be for those youth in Alabama to have a chance to show some pure and faultless religion!

And these are not for sale, yet! But we are teaching the women to make beautiful bead necklaces out of recycled magazines. Of course, first we had to teach ourselves! This is our prototype and it only took close to 10 of us probably 10 hours to make!! There is a bit of a learning curve, that hopefully the Ethiopian women will work through quickly.
When I look at the beads on this necklace, I can pick out certain ones that I know were made by certain friends. This one necklace has so many memories, and is such an amazing representation of hope.
Hope for women who currently make moonshine to sell to men who drink all day to drown out their suffering, these women are frequently raped and there is no justice. Hope for women who have decided to sell their bodies to have food for their children. Hope for women who have HIV and need medical care they cannot afford.
We are taking necklace making kits with us this month, and hope to teach 5 women how to make the necklaces to begin the process and then encourage the women to teach their friends and we will slowly expand from there!
